Some days it is tough even getting out of bed. Yoga can help with that even 2-3 times a week can make you more limber not only for getting through the day but also the night. Doing things as a couple is very underrated the more you can the more connection you will have.

Partner yoga postures are an excellent method to strengthen your mind, body, and relationship simultaneously. Let's get started while bending is still in style!

Beginner Couples Yoga Poses

Even though we have never really practiced yoga regularly we still mix it in to add some longevity to our relationship and our bodies. It is important to keep things fresh so that you don't get bored. That is why we like to switch things up and add in new activities like partner yoga.

Keep in mind that you need to be safe first and foremost and ease your way into these poses. As you can hurt yourself or your partner if you try to do too much too soon. These poses are safer than some more advanced ones out there where you just need to communicate when going through your first time.

Each time you do them they will get easier and easier while that connection with your partner get stronger. Although it takes some time and practice, anyone can do these easy, medium, and hard yoga poses for two people. Remember to have fun together while doing your best so that you both gain the amazing benefits of couples yoga.

Yoga is tough don't let videos on youtube or anywhere else fool you we first started yoga way back with Beachbody workout programs P90X with Tony Horton in particular. It was called YOGA X and it was brutal we could never make it through the 30-40+ minute routine. We are both sweaty and just feeling accomplished after getting as far as we could.

Beginner Couple Yoga Poses

Yoga is a great way to bond with your partner, and these beginner yoga poses are perfect for couples new to the practice. These simple partner yoga stretches and moves will help you get started, and later on we'll introduce some more challenging acro yoga beginner moves.

Make sure you are as comfortable as possible doing these poses if either one of you feels unsafe jump to the next one and go from there. Maybe have a cocktail or two before starting as well.

Couples Back Stretch

We love starting with this so you can get a quick stretch in before getting to the juicy stuff. This two person, beginner yoga pose is not only fun but feels great too. Plus, it's always more enjoyable to stretch with a partner than by yourself using props like a stability ball.

You would be surprised at the difference in your flexibility when you have somebody to help push and pull you. It is also great for your posture which in turn can make you look taller and slimmed down. When was the last time you had a good stretch? If it has been a while this will feel pretty darn good.

Couples Crow Pose

With this difficult partner yoga posture, challenge your upper body strength. Although it may be tempting to turn your head to the side and kiss your partner's cheek, don't do it. Turning your head to the side in many yoga postures, such as camel pose or plow, can be extremely hazardous since you risk injuring your neck.

Couples crow pose will help improve your balance while toning your arms, shoulders, and core. It will also give you a good sense of how your partner moves and feels since you are so close together.

If this is too much of a challenge try doing it with your back to each other or sitting on your partners feet instead of their thighs. You can also try it with your partner sitting on a chair if you are really struggling. The key is to have fun and not get too frustrated.

Couples Triangle

If you're looking for another great hamstring stretch, try triangle pose. This is a beginner yoga pose that anyone can do. If you're not as flexible, touch your shin or knee instead of your ankle or the floor when doing this move.

It's critical not to apply pressure with your hand, especially if it's on your knee. To make the floor higher, place your hand on a yoga block or a water bottle. Finally, remember to keep your back foot at a 45-degree angle and never lock your knees.

This is a much easier pose to start with before doing others too. If you are struggling to hold the pose put a yoga block under your bottom hand for support. You can also try it with your back against a wall if that is more comfortable. Remember to take deep cleansing breaths while in the position.

Couples Cobra Stretch

Cobra stretch is great even when you have a bad back it will help a lot. When I went to a chiropractor previously he said this is the number one stretch you need to be doing since you work an office job. Let me tell you it made all the difference.

This stretch is easy enough that anyone can do it, but if you have any back issues make sure to consult with a doctor before trying it.

To do this position, simply lie on your stomach with your feet hip-width apart. Place your hands under your shoulders and lift your head and chest off the floor, keeping your hips and thighs down. Look straight ahead, not up. Hold for 30 seconds to a minute, and then slowly release back down to the floor.

If you want a deeper stretch, try placing your hands behind your head instead of under your shoulders. You can also try it with your elbows on the floor and pushing up that way. If this is too much pressure on your back, try doing it with your partner on their knees behind you and just let your upper body relax into their lap.

Couples Seated Cat

The seated cat engages your core while also stretching your back. To do this position, sit on your heels with your knees hip-width apart. Place your hands on the floor in front of you and round your spine up to the ceiling as you tuck your chin to your chest. Then, arch your back and look up at the ceiling as you release your head back. Reverse the movement and repeat.

If this is too much pressure on your wrists, try it with your forearms on the floor instead. You can also try it with your partner sitting in front of you so that you can lean into their back for support. Remember to take deep breaths while in the position and to focus on moving slowly and mindfully.

Couples Warrior Pose

The yoga warrior pose is a challenging but rewarding posture that strengthens the entire body. It is named for the fierce stance of a warrior ready for battle.

The yoga warrior pose is a deep standing forward bend that stretches the hamstrings, calves, and hips. It also builds strength in the thighs, core, and upper body. This pose can be modified to suit any level of practice.

Couples Tree Pose
