Basic Keto Grocery List (Get In And Out Easily)

If you are just starting out on the keto diet, grocery shopping can seem a little overwhelming. All of the different foods and ingredients can be confusing. That's why I created this printable keto grocery list for beginners. This list includes all of the basic keto-friendly foods that you will need as you get started on your journey to becoming a fat-burning machine!

The Best Keto Grocery List

The best keto grocery list is a simple one that gets you in and out with simple recipes to cook. We have been doing keto on and off for years and now as a family we do a combination of Keto, Carnivore and Animal-Based dieting.

I realize that the majority of people consume a wider variety of meals than I do. At the same time, while researching Keto Grocery Lists, I came across so many that looked overwhelming and contained several items that I've never used after nearly a year on the keto diet.

I'd like to start by saying that I created a rudimentary Keto Grocery List as a helpful guide. My objective with this list is to make following the keto diet simple. It isn't necessary to buy every item on this list. Consider it a useful reference while grocery shopping instead of going out and buying everything on this list for the sake of getting it.

It will get easier the more you shop and eventually you won't need the list as you will be mainly just replenishing the main items.

How Do I Get Started On The Keto Diet?

Research is the best way to start along with YouTube to get a quick review. You can also find a lot of keto recipes on Pinterest and they are all categorized. I have entire boards dedicated to Keto Recipes as well as other boards like Main Course, Side Dish, Appetizers, etc.

If you're looking for meal ideas that will help get you started on the keto diet you can check out some of our recipes and we are also in the process of a recipe book. People get to caught up on Keto vs Carnivore vs Animal Diet vs Paleo just do a little research to what best fits. Then go with that and adjust as you go no diet is perfect until you can live with it for life. We do a combination of what works for us that is mainly focused on fattier low carb meat.

Do we do all grass-fed? No of course not but we try to get local farm more than places like Walmart when possible. That's all you can do eating this way in general is healthier than eating unhealthy carbs.

What Should I Not Eat On A Keto Diet?

On a Keto diet you shouldn't eat high-carbohydrate foods such as grains, pasta, cereal, sugary drinks, candy or desserts. You should also avoid most fruits and starchy vegetables.

The best way to know what you can and cannot eat on a keto diet is to check the nutrition label on food packaging. The carbohydrate content will be listed in grams (g). If a food has more than 15 g of carbs per serving, it is not keto-friendly.

Below is a list of some common high-carbohydrate foods that you should avoid on a keto diet:

Grains – Bread, pasta, cereal, oatmeal

Sugary drinks – Fruit juice, soda, energy drinks

Candy – Chocolate, ice cream, cake

Desserts – Cookies, pies, pastries

Fruits – Apples, bananas, oranges

Starchy vegetables – Potatoes, corn, peas

Just print the grocery food list below to get what foods you can eat. It is better to focus on what you can eat than what you cannot.

Do I Need To Get All The Items On The List?

Every single thing on a keto grocery list is not required at any one time. A list is merely a guide to help you make the greatest food selections while shopping for keto meals. You don't need to have every type of nut butter, oils, sweeteners, and so on in your pantry. Choose the ones you enjoy most and get picky with the rest.

Specialty Ingredients For Keto Beginners Grocery List

There are also several distinct ingredients that may be discovered in many keto recipes, such as keto-friendly sweeteners, flours, and chocolates. There are several different sweeteners on the list, although buying them all is not required. I've included some of my favorite Keto Grocery List items below for baking, low carb bread, and keto desserts if you need them.

We all have favorites for me it is sweeteners especially for my morning Coffee. I get keto-friendly sweeteners like the below:

TOP 3 Keto Sweeteners

Stevia

Stevia is a natural sweetener extracted from the Stevia rebaudiana plant. It's a nonnutritive sweetener, which means it has few calories or carbohydrates. Unlike ordinary sugar, stevia has been found to help lower blood sugar levels in animal and human research. Stevia is a plant-derived sweetener that's sold in liquid and powdered form. It can be utilized to flavor everything from beverages to desserts, although because it is far sweeter than regular sugar, recipes require less stevia to achieve the same taste. In place of 1 cup (200 grams) of sugar, use 1 teaspoon

Sucralose

Sucralose is a non-metabolizable artificial sweetener that goes undigested through your body, so it does not give calories or carbohydrates. Sucralose is the most widely used sweetener based on sucralose. It's a good choice because it has no unpleasant aftertastes, like aspartame. Sucralose does not contain any calories itself, but Splenda contains maltodextrin and dextrose, two carbohydrates that provide approximately 3 calories and 1 gram of carbs in each packet. Sucralose, unlike other sweeteners, isn't suitable for replacing sugar in baked products. When sucralose is exposed to high temperatures, it can form harmful chemicals, according to several studies. Instead, use sucralose to sweeten beverages and meals like oatmeal and yogurt. For most recipes, Splenda can be replaced for sugar in a 1:1 ratio. Pure sucralose, on the other hand, is 600 times as sweet as ordinary sugar, so you'll only need to use a tiny amount in place of sugar for your favorite dishes.

Erythritol

Erythritol is a sugar substitute made from erythritol, which is found in many fruits. It has the taste and texture of sugar thanks to its resemblance to real sugar.. It's approximately 80% as sweet as ordinary sugar, but it has just 5% of the calories and 0.2 calories per gram. Erythritol also appears to aid in lowering blood sugar levels in the body, even though it contains 4 grams of carbohydrates per teaspoon (4 grams). This sweetener also has a low glycemic index, making it less likely to cause digestive issues than other sugar alcohols. Erythritol is commonly used in baking and cooking, and it can be replaced for sugar in many recipes. Erythritol has a slightly icy mouthfeel and doesn't dissolve as readily as sugar, which can result in foods with a gritty texture. Swap about 1 3/3 cups (267 grams) of erythritol for each cup (200 grams) of sugar for optimal effects.

Keto can be simplified even more by implementing what is called intermittent fasting. Intermittent fasting is where you cycle between periods of eating and not eating. This can be a great way to help lose weight and make the keto diet more manageable.

There are many different ways to do intermittent fasting, but one popular method is to fast for 16 hours and then eat during an eight-hour window. This would mean eating all of your meals within an eight-hour period and fasting for the remaining 16 hours.

If you are interested in trying intermittent fasting, I suggest starting with 12 hours of fasting and then gradually increasing to 16 hours. This will help make the transition easier.
