In this article, we will explore the best movies to watch as couples and discuss the ideology behind them. The best way to watch a movie together is cuddled up on the couch with some popcorn. But not all movies are created equal when it comes to relationship benefits. Here are three of the best movies to watch as a couple:

1) Rom-Coms

What they’re good for: Lighthearted fun, sparking conversation about relationships in general, making you laugh (or cry) together.

2) Dramas

What they’re good for: Acting as a catalyst for serious conversations about important topics in your relationship, such as love, loss, betrayal, or reconciliatio  n. These types of movies can also make you appreciate your own relationship more.

3) Foreign Films

What they’re good for: Cultural enrichment, expanding your worldviews, and providing a shared experience that can be bonding in itself. If you watch a foreign film with subtitles, it can also help improve communication by giving you both something to focus on together.

The Best Movies to Watch as a Couple

Every couple is different. Some couples like to spend their free time together engaging in outdoor activities, while others prefer to stay in and relax. But one activity that both therapists and long-term couples seem to agree on is that watching great movies together can bring you and your partner closer. In this article, we will explore the best movies to watch as couples and discuss the ideology behind them. We will also provide tips on how you can make your relationship last by watching great movies together!

The Importance of Watching Movies Together

Couples who watch movies together tend to have stronger relationships than those who don’t. There are a few reasons for this. First, watching movies allows you and your partner to bond over a shared experience. You can cuddle up together on the couch and discuss the plot, the characters, and your favorite scenes after the credits roll. This bonding experience can help you feel closer to your partner and foster a stronger sense of intimacy.

Second, watching movies can give you a chance to see your partner in a different light. If you usually watch action movies or comedies, try picking a drama or romance instead. This will give you a chance to see a different side of your partner and have a more meaningful conversation about the film afterwards. And if you find yourself disagreeing about the movie, that’s ok! Use it as an opportunity to learn more about each other’s perspectives and find common ground.

Tips for Making Your Relationship Last by Watching Movies Together

1) Talk about the movie afterwards: One of the best things about watching movies together is that you can bond over a shared experience afterwards. So be sure to take advantage of this opportunity! Ask your partner questions about their favorite scenes, what they thought of the ending, etc. This will help you feel closer to them and foster deeper communication.

2) Try watching different genres: As we mentioned before, watching different genres of movies can help you see your partner in a different light. So next time you’re trying to pick a movie, why not step outside of your comfort zone? You may be surprised at how much you enjoy it!

3) Set aside time for just the two of you: In today’s fast-paced world, it can be difficult to find time for just the two of you. But making time for date night (or movie night!) is crucial for keeping the spark alive in your relationship. So be sure to set aside some time each week or month specifically for spending time with your partner. This will show them that they are a priority in your life and help keep your relationship strong.

Movie Therapy For Couples

Nearly half of marriages end in divorce within the first 4-5 years after the ceremony. That is just a sad statistic. One of the number one complaints in relationships is a lack of communication. If you and your partner can’t communicate, it’s likely that your relationship will suffer as a result.

Couples therapy is expensive, time-consuming, and often requires a lot of emotional energy. But what if there was an easier way to improve your communication and bond with your partner? What if all you need is a good movie and some popcorn?

Yes, we’re serious! Research has shown that watching movies together can help improve communication in relationships. In fact, one study found that couples who watched movies together had significantly lower divorce rates than those who didn’t.

So why does watching movies together help improve communication? There are a few reasons. First, it gives you and your partner a shared experience to bond over. You can discuss the plot, the characters, and your favorite scenes after the credits roll.

So next time you’re looking for a way to improve your relationship, why not try watching a movie together? It just might be the key to a happier, healthier relationship.

Ronald Rogge, an associate professor of clinical psychology at the University of Rochester, has been conducting research on that hypothesis, asking couples to watch five films about relationships in one month and then discuss them.

The latest study grew out of one Rogge did with Tom Bradbury, professor of psychology and co-director of the Relationship Institute at University of California — Los Angeles. The two gathered data from 1998 to 2004, the results of which were published in December.

Couples who'd viewed movies together and discussed what they saw were half as likely to divorce, according to the research.

What Movie Should Married Couples Watch?

This will vary obviously as not all couples will connect with the same movies where some will cuddle up and get excited about a drama or horror film. The majority will most likely connect to some sappy love movies though. That doesn't mean there can't be some action in them to keep the men's attention as well.

The best thing to do to work on your relationship and open that communication door without trying is to find couples films that connect to your current situation in your marriage. Watching the notebook is great, but if you can't reach that place in reality then really what is the point. How is that going to solve your marital problems. What Movie To Watch: According To Real Married Couples

So we didn't want you to just take our word for it on what movie to watch so we will show you some of the results we gathered from some forums and sub reddits. These are real people in real relationships giving their opinion on life changing movies that will help married couples.

Real Married People

Lord-Darksong “Parenthood” I could relate to many, many characters at different stages of their lives. Even with the primary focus being on kids (of all ages) the marriage issues are there.

BillFireWalton – You might like Get: The Trial of Viviane Amsalem, another bleak foreign drama film revolving around a strained marriage.

Potietang – “This is 40”. Came here to say this. Spot on when it comes to depicting the “bullshit” arguments of a stressed marriage. Hilariously depicted. Showed all aspects of a marriage. The stress, the mundaneness, the humor, the companionship, etc…

1morepage – “Eyes Wide Shut”. This is one of those movies I saw real late on HBO while my parents were asleep. It definitely had an impact on how I perceive marriage and general relations between men and women. It’s psychosexual as heck.

Tranquil45 – “By The Sea” Check out “by the sea”. Written and directed by angelina homie with brad Pitt acting.

De_lete “Cerified Copy” – Certified Copy but Marriage Story is a pretty good one and definitely more straightforward than Certified Copy.

Fvg627 “A Seperation” – Some off the top of my head…A Separation, Another Year, Winter Sleep, Broken Circle Breakdown

Lawavaca “Cat On A hot Tin Roof” – If you have the Criterion Channel, they currently have a collection of 18 films revolving around marriage, although many of them leave at the end of the month. Some included are: Cat on a Hot Tin RoofKramer vs. KramerA SeparationScenes From a MarriageAntichristCertified Copy, and 45 Years.

Lacourseauxetoiles “Only Lovers Left Alive” – Only Lovers Left Alive, which depicts a romance between two vampires that has been going on for hundreds of years.

HNoor01 “Another Year” – Off the top o' my head – may add things if I think of them: Another Year(Mike Leigh), Penny Serenade, Long Day's Journey Into Night (marriage & family), The Crowd

Sunrise, Revolutionary Road, I thought the ‘original' run of the TV show Roseanne had a realistic, nuanced take on a long term marriage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best movie to watch as a couple?

Answer: It depends on what you're looking for. If you want to feel romantic and drawn in, The Notebook is a great choice. If you want to feel excited and entertained, The Avengers is sure to please. Alternatively, if you're looking for a more cerebral film experience, try watching 12 Angry Men together. No matter what your taste, there's a perfect movie waiting for you and your partner to watch it together.

What is a good movie to watch with your husband?

There are a lot of great movies out there that husband and wife can enjoy together. A good movie to watch with your husband can depend on what you both like to watch. If you're into action movies, then consider something like “The Revenant” or “Terminator Genisys.” If you prefer more romantic films, then “The Notebook” or “Titanic” might be more up your alley. Ultimately, it's important to choose a film that you'll both enjoy and can watch together without any arguments!

What should I watch with my husband on Netflix?

When it comes to what to watch on Netflix, it really depends on what you and your husband are into. If he's a fan of psychological thrillers, then films like ‘The Machinist' or ‘Black Swan' would be good options. If he's more of a comedy guy, then classics like ‘Groundhog Day' or ‘The Princess Bride' would be better choices. Whatever you decide to watch, make sure that you both take the time to relax and enjoy each other's company. Spending quality time together is key for any relationship!

What to watch to get her in the mood?

There is no one answer to this question since what might work for one person might not work for another. The Notebook is always the safest route to go if you have already watched this a thousand times then move onto some movies like Dirty Dancing, Pretty Woman, An Officer And A Gentleman, or other love classics.

However, some things that could potentially help get a woman in the mood include spending time with her, being physically affectionate, and paying attention to her needs both emotionally and physically. Additionally, watching certain types of movies or TV shows together can also be a fun way to get in the mood. For example, something romantic or erotic may do the trick. Ultimately though, it's important to be sensitive to what the other person wants and to communicate openly about what turns each of you on.
